Contamination Control

Designed for Maintenance/Service Staff at all levels, Managers, Inspectors, Advanced Apprentices and Technical Representatives. This course builds upon your knowledge gained whilst attending the Stage 1 Hydraulics Course

You cannot Manage without Measurement 70-80% of systems fail due to contamination ingression “CONTROL-MEASUREMENT-MANAGE”

Course 1

“CONTAMINATION MANAGEMENT” (CM1)It will enable you to improve your existing procedures and be more aware of contamination ingression, associated costs and failures. It will cover flushing and associated measurement to ISO Standards. £300.00 Exc VA

Course 2

This is specifically designed for those who are responsible for assessing system and Component cleanliness to meet a particular Specification. This course is to do with “MEASUREMENT” and the methods used to assesses contamination levels £300.00 Exc VAT

Contamination Control Course

Course Details

The course has a HIGH PRACTICAL content.

Two 1 Day Courses (9am – 5pm)

£300.00 per person + VAT

The cut off date to book onto this course is 7 days before the start date

Candidates will receive a comprehensive set of course notes, lunch, refreshments and certificate of attendance.

Entry Requirements:
Stage 1 Hydraulics or equivalent.

Course Aims

Course 1concentrates on the REAL HARD FACTS and will provide you with a thorough understanding of the origin of contaminants and the procedures that must be followed at all times to minimise ingression to acceptable levels.

You will be made aware of associated costs of failure and the importance of following flushing procedures and that of quantifying cleanliness levels through measure processes aligned to ISO Standards

Course 2

This is an ideal follow on from Course 1 and is specifically aimed at those who are responsible for assessing system component and cleanliness levels.

The course aims to improve your knowledge and overall understanding of current methods employed to assesses contamination levels and the nature of the contaminants within a sample

Course Objectives

Course 1 – Knowledge Based

On completion of this course candidates will know:

  • The real hard facts. “keep it out” and reduce costs and improve reliability
  • Origin & nature of Contamination and effects on components
  • The wear process that takes place ( How it affects the life of the hydraulic fluid)
  • The importance of oil management 6) BFPA guidelines P5 for target cleanliness level
  • Interpret Cleanliness Standards

Course 2 – Knowledge Based

On completion of this course candidates will know:

  • The origin and the nature of contaminants (REFRESHER)
  • The procedures required to carry out sampling, membrane and glassware preparation
  • How to effectively carryout a microscopic inspection
  • How to interpret results to new standards
  • The current procedures for assessing component cleanliness

Course 2 – Skills Based

During the practical section of this course candidates will engage in and apply the following skills:

  • Take an oil sample from a live system
  • Prepare a patch membrane of an oil sample
  • Carry out particle counting and assessment

After attending the Stage 1 Hydraulics course, you can attend a further 2 days to become certified to an International standard by gaining the competence based BFPA/CETOP Level 1 Hydraulics qualification (an additional cost of £550.00 + VAT per person is required and a certification fee of £35 + VAT is payable to BFPA). Please contact us if you wish to become certified after completing your Stage 1 Hydraulics course.
