Who should take this course?
Designed for Maintenance/Service Staff at all levels, Managers, Inspectors, Advanced Apprentices and Technical Representatives. The emphasis at this stage is to raise the awareness of the importance of maintaining an effective contamination control system, whilst knowing how Contaminants enter a system and the steps to be taken to prevent this occurring.
Course Objectives
Course 1 concentrates on the real hard facts and will provide you with a thorough understanding of the origin of contaminants and the procedures that must be followed at all times to minimise ingression to acceptable levels.
You will be made aware of associated costs of failure and the importance of following flushing procedures and that of quantifying cleanliness levels through measure processes aligned to ISO Standards.

On completion of this course candidates will know:
- The real hard facts. “keep it out” and reduce costs and improve reliability
- The origin & nature of Contamination and effects on components
- The wear process that takes place (How it affects the life of the hydraulic fluid)
- How filters perform
- The importance of oil management
- About the BFPA guidelines P5 for required target cleanliness levels
- How to Interpret Cleanliness Standards
- The importance of Flushing (overview)
- The importance of selecting the correct oil

No, lunch isn’t provided however we will be providing light refreshments on the day. There are a number of supermarkets nearby along with fast food outlets for lunch.
