• This introductory level course will improve your understanding of Proportional Hydraulics giving you an overview of the component parts and terminology used
• 1 day course
• 9am – 4pm or as arranged by your tutor
• Training at the NFPC will consist of 1 day of technical lectures
• Candidates will receive a comprehensive set of course notes, light refreshments, and certificate of attendance
Who should take this course?
This course is ideal for those being introduced to proportional hydraulics and control for the first time, providing a basic level of knowledge helping you to better understand this technology.
Course Objectives
Knowledge Based
On completion of this course candidates will know:
- The physical differences between a proportionally controlled valve and a switching (or “bang-bang”) type valve
- How proportional, flow and pressure valves are constructed
- The difference between direct and pilot operated proportional valves
- What ‘ramp up’ and ‘ramp down’ operations are
- The meaning of PWM and dither functions
- The functionality of the driver card (‘amplifier’)
- The difference between Proportional, Servo proportional, Servo jet pipe and servo flapper valves
- The operating speed differences on various types of Proportional control
- Why screened cable is essential when wiring a proportional system and the correct cable plugs valves

No, lunch isn’t provided however we will be providing light refreshments on the day. There are a number of supermarkets nearby along with fast food outlets for lunch.
