- Course times are 8:45am – 4pm or as arranged by your tutor (please be on site at the NFPC for 8:30am)
- Candidates will receive a comprehensive set of course notes, light refreshments, and certificate of attendance
- This module will be limited to a maximum of 8 candidates per booking
- The pre-requisite for this course is Stage 1 Hydraulics
Who should take this course?
This course is designed for those involved in the maintenance and management of Systems employing Hydraulics of which the application of Hydraulic Hoses plays a vital role. This same course will benefit anyone associated with hydraulic hose management from that of selection, construction/assembly to installation and inspection. This is a “down-to-earth” course providing you with a foundation of vital knowledge to support you in your place of work. Hydraulic Hoses are a vital part of every Hydraulic system and often appear to be less important than the other system components, yet they can be the most dangerous part of the system if not fully understood and managed to assure maximum safety at all times.
Course Objectives
On completion of this course candidates will:
- Know the construction of a flexible hydraulic hose and the function of each component part
- Know the criteria for hose specification relating to size, temperature, application, media and pressures
- Be able to recognise factors that can affect hose life
- Know the safe recommended procedures to follow when making a flexible hose assembly
- Know the meaning and importance of the data printed on the hose lay line
- Be able to identify the cause of a damaged hose and the necessary preventive measures to apply
- Be able to recognise hose fittings, adaptor threads and sealing methods for particular applications
- Know the importance of correct routing and final installation of a hose
assembly
During the course you will have an opportunity to discuss any problems relating to hoses and experiences within the workplace.

No, lunch isn’t provided however we will be providing light refreshments on the day. There are a number of supermarkets nearby along with fast food outlets for lunch.

The service and delivery of training by the NFPC to our offshore wind turbine technician apprentices has been outstanding. The knowledge and practical experience they gain in fully equipped, hi-tech workshops enhances the apprentices’ ability to align themselves with an essential part of their job. We have worked closely with John Savage and his colleagues to fine tune the program to give our apprentices the best possible start to understanding turbine hydraulic systems, nothing has been too much trouble. Every apprentice has been fully engaged with the training given and their feedback has been exceptional such as “Best training I’ve ever done” and “I’ve learned so much on this course”. Our experience of The NFPC has been excellent and we look forward to continuing working with John and his team and to developing our relationship with The NFPC in the near future.
