Specialist technical lectures at the 2026 Industry Open Day
During the this year’s exhibition on 21st October 2026, members of the NFPC Advisory & Strategic Planning Group will present a series of Technical Lectures which are detailed below. All technical lectures will be delivered in the Technical Rooms within the NFPC and each lecture will last around 45 minutes in total including questions.

Hawe Speakers:
Marcus Specks – Regional Sales Director, HAWE SE
Jon Else – Managing Director, HAWE UK Ltd
Time: 10:45am – 11:30am
PSL-CAN Smart Valve Control: From Easy Plug&Play to Advanced Automatization
With increasing demands for efficiency, flexibility, and digital integration in mobile machinery, intelligent hydraulic solutions are becoming a key enabler. HAWE Hydraulik presents the PSL-CAN valve, combining proven load-sensing technology with integrated on-board electronics (OBE).
The integration of electronics directly into the valve enables faster commissioning, reduced system complexity, and improved control behavior. At the same time, standardized CAN communication allows efficient diagnostics and supports easy integration of assistance functions.
This session will explore:
- Faster commissioning and reduced system complexity through integrated OBE
- Efficient diagnostics and troubleshooting via CAN-PAL
- Simple implementation of assistance functions due to linear behavior
- Advanced digital control concepts like Positive-Flow-Control, eLS or Flow-Sharing

Witham Speaker:
Mick Kenyon – Technical Consultant
Time: 11:45am – 12:30pm
Scope 3 Emissions reduction with Next-Gen Lubricant Blending Technology
Most forward-thinking organisations have already picked the low-hanging fruit of sustainability. They have optimised their internal energy use, streamlined logistics, and upgraded facilities—yet still find themselves short of their desired net-zero targets. The battleground has shifted to Scope 3 emissions, where purchasing decisions dictate the carbon footprint.
In this session, Mick Kenyon will introduce the massive, hidden energy cost of traditional lubricant manufacturing. Standard blending relies on heavy, fossil-fuel-driven heating cycles to mix viscous products. Blendtek is changing this paradigm by introducing advanced ultrasound blending technology.
By utilising acoustic waves to blend raw materials simultaneously at ambient temperature, this technology completely eliminates the heating phase. Mick will explain how this process works, validate its performance consistency, and demonstrate how simply changing procurement criteria to favour cold-blended technology allows buyers to instantly slash upstream supply chain emissions. Attendees will leave with a practical knowledge of this next-generation manufacturing technique and how it can help achieve the next wave of corporate sustainability goals.

Vickers by Danfoss Speaker:
Lorents Giaso – Product Design Engineer
Time: 2:00pm – 2:45pm
Next-Generation OBE Proportional Valves and CVI/CVCS Slip-In Valve Technology
This technical lecture introduces the next generation of proportional valve technology, with a focus on on-board electronics, digital amplifier integration, improved communication capability and simplified valve configuration.
The session will cover the evolution from existing proportional valve platforms towards AxisPro Level 1 and next-generation OBE valves, highlighting USB and Ethernet-based configuration, CANopen, Profinet and EtherCAT options, improved diagnostics, reduced deadband and higher power capacity.
The second part of the session will introduce the CVI/CVCS slip-in insert and cover valve range, including 420 bar capability, increased flow performance, ISO 7368 cavity compatibility, improved insert geometry, slotted-hole design and practical considerations for model-code transition and service support.
This session will explore:
- Digital OBE valve configuration and commissioning using modern industrial interfaces
- How improved pressure gain, deadband and flow capability support machine performance
- Practical benefits of diagnostics, Pro-FX configuration and simplified product architecture
- CVI/CVCS design updates for higher pressure, higher flow and improved power density
