    • 4 day course
    • 9am – 4pm or as arranged by your tutor
    • Training at the NFPC will consist of day 1 & 2 technical lectures and day 3 & 4 practical training
    • Dates on request
    • Candidates will receive a comprehensive set of course notes, light refreshments, and certificate of attendance

    Who should take this course?

    This course is designed to increase and improve the knowledge of Maintenance Staff at all levels managing a variety of systems supporting the Offshore Sector. This course will extend knowledge and skills, enable staff to better maintain and manage Hydraulic Systems and carry out their duties, following safer working procedures. Communication skills will be improved and with this further level of knowledge and understanding staff will work together with greater synergy.

    Course Objectives

    Skills Based

    During the practical section of this course candidates will engage in and apply the following skills:

    • Build hydraulic circuits by interpreting a hydraulic circuit diagram
    • Set pressure control on pumps, relief valves and counterbalance functions
    • Connect the electrical interface to the hydraulic controls using manual switches and pressure switches
    • Build and test a winch circuit
    • Apply load holding techniques
    • Set up an amplifier to operate a proportional DCV
    • Compare pump pressure compensator and load sensing controllers
    • Apply specific fault finding techniques to hydraulic circuits

    Knowledge Based

    On completion of this course candidates will know:

    • Offshore applications and the block diagram of a hydraulic system
    • Prime movers:- Electric and Diesel drives
    • Hydraulic Fluids for Offshore use
    • Common pumps and pump systems used in offshore
    • Control valves:- Logic elements for large flows
    • Control valves:- Spool type DCV’s including proportional
    • Load holding valves:- static and dynamic loads solving common problems
    • Accumulators:- common types and relevant legislation
    • Actuators:- Cylinders. Common types of Motors, fixed and variable
    • Types of circuits:- Open vs closed circuit systems
    • Maintenance and troubleshooting
    • Filtration and flushing

    No, lunch isn’t provided however we will be providing light refreshments on the day. There are a number of supermarkets nearby along with fast food outlets for lunch.
