Course Details

  • 5-day course
  • Course times are 8:45am – 4pm or as arranged by your tutor (please be on site at the NFPC for 8:30am)
  • Candidates will receive a comprehensive set of course notes, light refreshments and certificate of attendance
  • The course has a high practical content
  • In all cases you will be trained and tutored to meet the necessary performance criteria laid down by CETOP education recommendations here

How to book this course:

  • Prior to booking this course, you will have to complete a series of written assignments as part of your assessment process and achieve a pass mark of 70%
  • Failure to achieve this pass mark, you will not be able to enrol on this course and will be recommended for Refresher Training with the NFPC

Plan for the 5 day course:

  • Complete Knowledge based bridging course carrying on from Stage 2 industrial Hydraulics
  • NFPC Engineers mark your assignments
  • Practice all of the tasks necessary to meet the CETOP Level 2 recommendations
  • Be tested to carry out the practical tasks to meet the required standard
  • Revise for the written examination you are about to take
  • Sit the written examination accordingly

Who should take this course?

Level 2 (Second Line)- Technicians involved in the maintenance and management of systems employing Hydraulics and Control. This person would perform a variety of activities requiring specific levels of technical knowledge and associated skills. Work may be non-routine involving interpretation and use of simple diagnostics and the ability to make a positive response to deviations. This person would be a member of a team.

Course Objectives

Knowledge Based

• To ensure candidates have a better overall knowledge and understanding of hydraulic system components, their function, operation and control and how they perform in a working circuit
• Improve communication levels and overall skills to better manage and maintain machines employing hydraulic systems whilst following safe working practices at all times
• Gain a competence-based qualification aligned to CETOP educational recommendations Level 2

To obtain this qualification you must successfully complete the following:

• Written assignment prior to attending the course
• Written Examination of 2 hours duration with a pass mark of 60%
• Practical Task Assessments on a one to one basis

Practical based unit (one-to-one assessment):

Task 1: Carrying out a routine maintenance inspection on JCB 8015 using a prepared checklist
Task 2: Building and Testing Mobile Steering and Axle system, including writing a procedure
Task 3: Carrying out contamination assessment on a Mobile Machine
Task 4: Identifying and Interpreting a mobile machine circuit diagram

No, lunch isn’t provided however we will be providing light refreshments on the day. There are a number of supermarkets nearby along with fast food outlets for lunch.
