Who is it for?

This course has been designed for non-electrical craftsmen and technicians involved in the maintenance and design of mobile electrical control and power systems.

It has also been proven essential for Technical Sales, Projects or Applications Engineers and staff involved in writing or interpreting proposals for electrical systems.

Entry Requirements:

Candidates must have attended the Stage 1 Electro-hydraulics (Mobile) training course or equivalent.

Course Aims:

On completion of this course candidates will:

  • Know the basic properties of analogue and digital signals
  • Know the cause and means of avoiding electro magnetic interference
  • Know the fundamental principles of mobile communications networks (CAN)
  • Be able to recognise and interrogate a programmable microcontroller
  • Be able to read and interpret a microcontroller program
  • Know how to create and execute simple microcontroller programs

Course Outline:

  • Analogue and digital signals
  • Electromagnetic interference and the EMC Regulations
  • Index of Protection (IP) Ratings
  • Further electronic components (transistors)
  • Cable types, termination and routing to minimise EMC
  • Sensors and transducers applied to speed, position, level, flow, and pressure measurement
  • Proportional Valve Amplifiers
  • Basics of mobile communication networks and bus systems (CAN)
  • Operation of programmable microcontrollers
  • Practical exercises – microcontroller programming and fault finding

Certificate of Attendance.
