On completion of this course candidates will:
Appreciate the range of equipment available in the SIEMENS SIMATIC range
Know the fundamental principles that underpin all PLC systems
Know how to interrogate the S7-300™ PLC fault memory
Be able to read and interpret STEP 7 programs
Load and save a program, follow a live program and trace the logical operation

Assembling and addressing the S7-300™ PLC modules
Symbolic addressing and using the symbol table
Using SIMATIC Manager
Loading and saving programs
Introduction to ladder, function block and statement list programming
Data types and number manipulation
Function and operation of timers and counters
Operation of functions, function blocks and data blocks
Modifying, saving and downloading blocks
Using the online diagnostic fault memory
Diagnosing hardware faults
Viewing a live program and live data
Using the PLC and programming tools for machine diagnostics
