Who is it for?

This course has been designed for non-electrical craftsmen and technicians involved in the use and maintenance of electro-hydraulic or electro-pneumatic control and power systems.

It is also beneficial to Maintenance Team Leaders, Project Engineers and Departmental Managers who need to know how electrical legislation affects the safety of staff and machinery under their control.

Course Aims:

On completion of this course candidates will:

  • Know the hazards associated with the use of electrical equipment and installations
  • Be aware of the legislation covering the safe use of electrical equipment
  • Know the safe working practices associated with maintenance procedures

  • Overview of the IEE Wiring Regulations (17th Edition) 2008
  • Overview of the Electricity at Work Regulations (1989)
  • Basic Electrical Safety and Precautions
  • Safe Working Practice and Isolating Procedures
  • Electrical Distribution Systems and the Nature of the Supply
  • Basic Electrical Measurements
  • Understanding Electrical Distribution Drawings (Single Line Diagrams)
