Aberdeen Hydraulics and the NFPC Training Partnership

Aberdeen Hydraulics and the National Fluid Power Centre have formed a training partnership agreement. The NFPC is going to work together with Aberdeen Hydraulics to help identify the training needs of their customers and porvide training solutions. This will help the NFPC serve a wider audience and further increase the knowledge and skills of our workforce to meet the ever-changing world of fluid power.

Level 1 Hydraulics Training Programme

A new Level 1 hydraulics training programme, arranged by Aberdeen Hydraulics, is planned to be delivered at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre throughout 2008. This course will be of three days duration and will as necessary meet the requirements of the IMCA. The course will provide an excellent foundation for those involved with marine or offshore engineering systems involving fluid power. These courses are going to be delivered at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on the following dates:

  • 8-10 April
  • 28-30 May
  • 24-26 June
  • 29-31 July
  • 27-29 August
  • 30 Septemebr-2 October
  • 29-31 October
  • 25-27 Novemeber

The course is a prerequisite to the level 2 programme and on completion candidates will:

  • Know the fundamental principles that underpin the operation of all hydraulic systems.
  • Be more conversant with hydraulic symbols and circuitry, both open and closed systems.
  • Be very much aware of the need to maintain high standards of contamination control and the importance of good fluid management.
  • Know the function and operation of the basic components of a hydraulic system including pumps, actuators and associated control devices (pressure, flow and direction).
  • Realise the importance of risk assessment and working safely at all times when dealing with hydraulics under pressure.
  • Know the causes of failure within hydraulic systems and the preventative actions to be taken.

The learning experience will be supported by practical hydraulic exercises.
